The Wish Maker

Model: Samantha

Bottles and Settee: Something Borrowed PDX

This is very simple, but it’s one of my favorites.
I need a title for this series! The blue and grey octopus shoot is titled “Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife”, so I don’t want to use anything like that.
Any suggestions?

Happy Monday!
For those just tuning in, real octopus dyed with hair dye, real nude woman in the form of Erika Moen.
Octopus wrangling provided by my husband Phillip.
This is my second version of this idea, the first (shot in 2009) has been floating all over the internet for a while, usually uncredited. You can see the whole original collection here.
Here’s a behind the scenes peek for the curious, and the concept sketches.

The Untitled Nude Series - Every artist needs one!

Faceless

(This is one of the few shoots where I actually had a specific concept based on the model not being terribly fond of her own face. I think she had a wonderful face, right out of a Vermeer painting, but she did not agree. The directive was to be “caught” in various fashion items, where everything is revealed except her face.)

The Decorative Arts

Etchings projected on a nude with a $5 plastic pattern enlarger from Goodwill.

Study in Motion

Very simple, very messy set up. The model stood still while I made piles of sifted flour on various body parts, then she moved her various body parts. My biggest fear was that the studio lights would ignite the flour dust and we would explode. Thankfully that did not happen. If you have time to view these at full size I highly recommend it!

I would also like to note that my studio ceiling is only 6 1/2 feet high. The model was tiny, which gave her the ability to jump in my tiny studio. She’s amazing.
